Terms of Service
Last updated: May 7, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to Sitekeeper. These Terms of Service explain the rules and expectations for using our client portal. By using Sitekeeper, you agree to these terms. If something here doesn't make sense, please reach out—we're happy to clarify.
Sitekeeper is built and maintained by an independent developer, not a large corporation. These terms are written to be fair, transparent, and understandable for small business owners.
What Sitekeeper Is
Sitekeeper is a client portal that helps you manage your website and domain information in one place. Through Sitekeeper, you can:
- View and manage website and domain details
- See contact form submissions from your website
- Track domain expiration dates and analytics
- Use real-time chat for support and communication
- Access website files and download backups
- Manage live product or service lists published on your website
- Contact the developer for updates or changes
Important: Sitekeeper is a management portal, not a web hosting provider or domain registrar. We help you organize and access information—we don't host your website or act as a registrar ourselves.
Your Account
When you create a Sitekeeper account, you're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Don't share your password, and let us know immediately if you think your account has been compromised.
You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Make sure the information you provide is accurate and up to date.
Domain Management
Sitekeeper helps you track and manage domain information, but how your domain is handled depends on your specific arrangement:
Domains Managed Through Namecheap
If we purchase and manage your domain on your behalf, it's registered through Namecheap. We'll handle renewals and keep you informed about expiration dates. However, you're responsible for ensuring payment is up to date and responding to renewal reminders.
Externally Owned Domains
If you own your domain through another registrar, Sitekeeper simply tracks the information for your convenience. You're fully responsible for managing renewals and payments with your registrar.
No Guarantee of Renewal
While we make every effort to remind you about domain expirations, we cannot guarantee renewal if you fail to pay, respond to reminders, or maintain an active account. Domain expiration is ultimately your responsibility.
Third-Party Registrar Issues
We're not liable for outages, errors, or issues caused by third-party registrars like Namecheap. If a registrar experiences downtime or technical problems, we'll do our best to help, but we can't control their systems.
Website Files & Hosting
File Storage & Version Control
Your website files may be stored in GitHub repositories for version control and deployment purposes. You can access and download your files through Sitekeeper at any time.
Hosting Services
Some websites are hosted on Netlify's infrastructure. If your site is hosted there, it benefits from their CDN, automatic deployments, and SSL certificates. Netlify's terms of service apply to hosted sites.
SSL Certificates
SSL certificates for HTTPS are provided by Let's Encrypt at no additional cost. We handle certificate issuance and renewal automatically, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted SSL coverage if third-party services experience issues.
Self-Hosting
If you download your website files from Sitekeeper to host elsewhere, you're responsible for hosting them yourself. We'll provide the files you need, but once downloaded, it's up to you to find a hosting provider and ensure your site stays online.
Billing & Payments
Payment Processing
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing to Sitekeeper, you authorize us to charge your payment method for the agreed-upon fees.
Subscription Fees
Sitekeeper operates on a subscription or service fee basis. Fees are charged according to your plan and billing cycle. You'll be notified in advance of any price changes.
Failed Payments
If a payment fails, we'll notify you and attempt to process it again. If payment issues aren't resolved, your access to Sitekeeper may be suspended until the account is current.
Refund Policy
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you're unhappy with the service or experience technical issues, reach out and we'll work with you to find a fair solution. Refunds are generally not provided for partial billing periods after service has been rendered.
Service Availability
Sitekeeper is provided on a "best effort" basis. While we strive to keep the service running smoothly, we don't guarantee 100% uptime or uninterrupted access.
Occasionally, we may need to perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability. We'll do our best to minimize disruptions and notify you when possible.
Sitekeeper relies on third-party services like Firebase, Stripe, Netlify, GitHub, Namecheap, and Let's Encrypt. If those services experience outages, it may affect Sitekeeper's functionality.
Rate Limits & Fair Use
To ensure fair access and prevent abuse, we implement rate limiting on API requests (300 requests per hour). Normal use of Sitekeeper will never hit these limits. If you consistently exceed rate limits, we may contact you to discuss your usage patterns.
Contact form submissions are limited to 10 per minute per form to prevent spam. Automated or abusive submissions may result in your form being temporarily disabled.
Live Product Lists
Sitekeeper provides a Live Product Lists feature that allows you to create and publish a publicly accessible list of products or services directly on your website. You can manage items including names, descriptions, prices, availability status, and product images through your portal.
Public Endpoint
List data is served via a read-only public API endpoint. Anyone with the endpoint URL can retrieve your list items. Do not include confidential or sensitive information in list items. You are responsible for the accuracy of all content, including prices and availability status.
Image Uploads
Product images you upload are stored on Sitekeeper's servers and are publicly accessible via a direct URL. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any images you upload. We reserve the right to remove images that violate these terms or applicable law.
Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and appropriateness of all content published in your product lists, including pricing, descriptions, and images. Sitekeeper does not verify or validate any list content.
Chat & Support
Sitekeeper includes a real-time chat feature for support and communication. Messages are stored in Firebase Realtime Database and may be forwarded to Discord for notification purposes.
While we strive to respond promptly, we don't guarantee immediate responses. Support is provided during normal business hours, though we'll do our best to address urgent issues quickly.
Your Responsibilities
When using Sitekeeper, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information
- Keep your login credentials secure
- Respond to important notifications about your account or domain
- Pay your subscription fees on time
- Use the service in a lawful and respectful manner
- Not attempt to hack, disrupt, or abuse the service
- Respect rate limits and fair use policies
- Not submit spam or malicious content through contact forms
Limitation of Liability
Sitekeeper is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we work hard to make the service reliable and useful, we can't guarantee it will always be perfect or meet every expectation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sitekeeper and its developer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. This includes loss of data, lost revenue, or issues caused by domain expiration or third-party service failures.
Our total liability for any claim related to Sitekeeper is limited to the amount you've paid for the service in the past 12 months.
In plain terms: We'll do our best to help you, but we can't be held responsible for everything that might go wrong, especially things outside our direct control.
Termination
You Can Cancel Anytime
You can cancel your Sitekeeper subscription at any time. If you cancel, you'll retain access until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account will be deactivated.
We May Terminate Service
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, fail to pay, or misuse the service. We'll give you notice when possible, but in cases of serious abuse, termination may be immediate.
What Happens After Termination
If your account is terminated, you'll lose access to your Sitekeeper portal. We'll retain your data for a reasonable period in case you want to reactivate, but after that, it may be deleted. Make sure to download any important information before canceling.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or through your portal. Continued use of Sitekeeper after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Northern California.
